My Thoughts:

The Houston Texans were already a very good team last year led by a strong defense. However in the playoffs against the Chiefs the offense was exposed as flat out terrible. Hence the decision was made in Houston to switch things up and they did a pretty good job at getting the assets they need to win a playoff game this year. The three big weaknesses for the Texans last year was at quarterback, running back and depth receiver and all three were addressed in free agency and the draft. I am not completely sold on Brock Osweiler under center. I believe he can be a serviceable quarterback and I personally see him as a Matt Schaub (former Texan) kind of player. He needs to be better than that to bring the Texans to the next level. Without question however he is better than the Brian Hoyer playoff disaster of last year. I really love Lamar Miller's skill set and believe if anything, the Miami Dolphins should have gave him more work than they did. He is dynamic, quick, a good receiver and is capable of scoring anywhere on the field. He is a huge upgrade at running back for the Texans. With their first pick of the draft, the Texans targeted the third area of need, receiver when they picked up Will Fuller of Notre Dame. He is fast, explosive and will keep teams from completely rolling over coverage to star receiver DeAndre Hopkins. They will become a dynamic one-two punch.

Of concern is the Texans losing their starter at center for the past two seasons in Ben Jones who has moved on to Tennessee. He started all 32 games over the past two years and is a dependable starter. Wisely however, the Texans found a potential gem in the draft when they picked Notre Damn center Nick Martin who has the tools to step right in and compete for the starting job. There is a real intensity and passion to his play and he could become a future Pro Bowler. Drafting Braxton Miller and running back Tyler Ervin will add some depth to the offense while free agent signee Antonio Allen will be a dependable backup at the safety position. All in all, I love the Texans moves this offseason and they will challenge for the division crown again in 2016.
