My Thoughts:

I really believe the Steelers overall had a terrible offseason. Perhaps the worst offseason in the NFL this season. It's a good thing they are blessed with QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB LeVeon Bell and WR Antonio Brown because the players lost vs. players added is quite poor. The only two players I really like that they brought in are tight end Ladarius Green and veteran offensive lineman Ryan Harris. Green has been buried behind Antonio Gates for years in San Diego and Roethlisberger could make him a star. Ryan Harris will compete for a starting tackle role but his best days are definitely behind him. The Steelers lost several solid depth players but the only player that has a huge impact on them is suspended receiver Martavis Bryant who helped keep focus off of Antonio Brown across from him. Tight end Heath Miller had a long, outstanding career but Ladarius Green is likely a better receiver and the Steelers may consider this a plus.

I really was not a fan of the Steelers draft this season. Artie Burns is a solid cornerback prospect but there were corners I felt were better fits for the Steelers scheme and he may take some time to fine tune his skill set for the next level. Sean Davis I simply am not a big fan of at safety or cornerback. I saw him play in a number of collegiate games and he never jumped out at me as a legitimate prospect. I had many safeties ranked ahead of him but his potential as a cover safety is likely what got him drafted as high as he did. Javon Hargrave is an interesting prospect as the South Carolina State defensive tackle had some good showings at various college football activities after the season. He has a dynamic first step but needs fine tuning. Jerald Hawkins looks like a capable run blocker and a liability as a pass protector at the NFL level. He could emerge in time if he improves his feet.

All in all, I don't see a lot here that will help the Steelers reach the next level. The only good news is other than Martavis Bryant's suspension they didn't lose much here that will cause their play to drop as well.
