My Thoughts:

The Bills lost a starting defensive end in Mario Williams who disappointed last year in Buffalo and a starting cornerback in Leodis McKelvin who started 60 games with 13 career interception. Williams had a terrific 2014 campaign but fell off the map last year. Guard Kraig Urbik started 57 games for the Bills over six seasons but only 13 in the last two years. The other three key veterans lost at the time of this articles were career backups who were mostly depth players.

The Bills picked up safety Robert Blanton who started 14 games in 2014 but has been a backup throughout his other three seasons. He offers good depth at the position. Veteran tight end Jim Dray was picked up from the Browns and he has 87 career games of experience. He has only caught 56 career receptions though and is strictly a blocker. Zach Brown is an underrated talent at outside linebacker and the former Titans player should step right in as a starter for the Bills Defense.

I love the Bills draft and believe all four defensive players drafted will have a role this season. Reggie Ragland is going to team up with free agent signing Zach Brown to immediately improve the Bills linebacking core and adding in both defensive end Shaq Lawson and DT Adolphus Washington to the rotating at defensive end will be terrific. Two wildcard offensive players here could become legitimate stars or busts. RB Jonathan Williams was a beast in 2014 but an injury derailed him last year with Arkansas and QB Cardale Jones has all the physical tools to be a strong quarterback if he takes to coaching.

The Bills lost more than they gained in free agency but adding linebacker Zach Brown along with a terrific draft will result in an overall upgrade of talent for the team. Could stand to add another offensive lineman or two for depth purposes. If Cardale Jones and Jonathan Williams exceed their draft positions, the Bills overall talent took a overall jump in the right direction despite the loss of several good veteran players. Overall, I believe the Bills made enough good moves to take a step in the right direction, especially in another season or two.
