My NFL Draft Top 15

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - RB David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals

David Johnson had himself a very nice first NFL season in the desert last year as he rushed for 581 yards, caught 36 passes and scored a staggering 12 touchdown passes. He looked explosive, agile and had enough power to break through tackles as well. The 12 touchdowns on only 161 total touches is impressive and that touchdown to touch ratio (1 every 13.4 touches) is one of the best in the game. In fact, those 12 touchdowns were the 2nd best output in the entire league behind Devonta Freeman of the Atlanta Falcons.

Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the 6'1 and 224 pound star from Northern Iowa with speed to burn just looked like a steal from day one. He has a real talent of create separation with a surprising burst from a large running back. He looks as though a threat to score every time the ball in is his hands and in his second season he is poised to lock himself in as a top ten fantasy talent.

Through the first half of last season, David Johnson started relatively slow as he adapted to the speed and pace of the NFL game. He only had 25 carries and 14 receptions in the first eight games but did score 5 touchdowns showing that uncanny knack of reaching the endzone. The second half of the season he was given the reins and he showed just how good he can be. He had 100 carries for 472 yards, 22 receptions for 249 yards and scored 7 more touchdowns. He truly was spectacular and he could become dominant in his second season. He had a three week stretch last season (week thirteen to week fifteen) in which he destroyed opposing defenses, rushing for 378 total yards and catching 11 passes.

The only caveat here and it is a small one in all honestly is having the experienced Chris Johnson on the roster to share time with as well as once promising running back Andre Ellington. Both are capable and could eat into David Johnson's playing time in 2016. However Johnson is at the tail end of his career, Ellington has never really hit his stride as a professional and David Johnson simply appears better than both.

THOUGHTS FOR 2016 I am jacked up when it comes to David Johnson's potential for the 2016 season. I currently have him as my 2nd best running back in PPR (Points per reception) Leagues only behind Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson's upside could land him as the top fantasy player this year. He really is that talented and in the perfect offense to thrive and rack up yardage and touchdowns. To add even more to the pot here, I have the Arizona Cardinals offensive line ranked as the 2nd best offensive line in the league. That's right. Combine talent, explosion, dynamic athleticism and a top offensive line and FF MVPs occur. He is a terrific first round fantasy pick and could without question help to lead a fantasy team to a championship. Do not sleep on David Johnson!
